I love trees and enjoy looking out my window at the woods and trees. This quilt catches the spirit of viewing trees through window panes. This quilt pattern. Arbor Window, is free beginning April 15, 2015 for the next two weeks by joining the April Quilt Dash
Arbor Window, designed by Tammy Harrison for this months Quilt Dash, is made with a traditional and classy paper pieced quilt block designed with muted fabric colors. The blocks with the trees are in random settings in window panes to make this quilt a modern beauty.
The Quilt Dash is free to join and you will be entered for a drawing from each participating quilt shop for a prize.
Have a beautiful day of quilting!
Spring is almost here, I hope. With that arrival, we will see all kinds of flying things, from birds to butterflies and dragonflies. I love dragonflies and we have a lot of them buzzing around in our yard in the warm months. I thought dragonflies would make a great subject for a spring or summer quilt with this new pattern.
This Dragonfly Flight quilt is available for purchase here through Craftsy and the Etsy WhimsyColor store.
Dragonfly Flight is a nice size for a throw, 44″ x 55 ¾”, but can be resized by adding blocks. Large green buttons are used for the dragonfly heads. Is a fun quilt that allows you to play with the direction of the blocks and dragonflies to give a totally different look to your quilt. You can make your dragonflies all one color or make them several different colors. I also chose bright color fabrics (from Quilting Treasures) for this quilt as I’m really tired of the dreary winter months and am looking forward to the warm sunny days of spring while I watch the dragonflies flit around.
I wish you a wonderful spring and summer!
My latest fabric collection, Purr-fect Balance with Quilting Treasures, featuring kitties in cute yoga poses, is now in fabric stores. I want to share some free quilt and sewing patterns that I designed with this collection, a quilt, tote bag, and a yoga mat bag. You can view the fabrics in my prior post for Purr-fect Balance fabrics.
This quilt is 44″ x 55 ¼” in size, which is a good size for a throw quilt or wall hanging. You can even lay it on the floor for your yoga workout. The skill level for the quilt is advanced beginner.
These bags are for a roomy tote to carry your yoga clothes or for shopping. The other bag is to hold your rolled up yoga mat. Maybe these fabrics can entice your cat to help you with yoga, although he or she will be trying to help the minute you get down on the floor.
I hope you have fun with these patterns and fabrics. I love cats, needless to say, (and dogs too), and designed the fabrics in happy and bright colors.
All patterns are available for free download from the Quilting Treasures website. Click on the link below the quilt and it will give you the links to the individual patterns.
Happy sewing and quilting,

Love will be in the air shortly – Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching! Instead of giving a gift that contains calories (chocolate) or will wilt (flowers), give a gift of love with a quilt of hearts that will continue to express love for many years to come!
This “Valentine Love” quilt pattern with hearts is available for purchase through Craftsy and Phyllis’ Etsy WhimsyColor store.
The finished quilt size is 45″ x 55″ and is made with pieced blocks and appliqué hearts in two sizes. Three fabrics were used in this quilt (these were from Quilting Treasures). Although this pattern may look complicated, its easy enough for a beginner.
Happy Valentine’s Day and show your love with a quilt of hearts! Or create this quilt as a gift of a wedding quilt for newlyweds.
One of the traditional and fun activities of Christmas is hanging the stockings to be filled by Santa. I have a collection of stockings that I have made over the years or received as gifts, all in a variety of techniques including sewing, quilting, applique, embellishment, embroidery, cross stitch and needlepoint. With stockings on my mind, I designed this “Christmas Stockings” quilt pattern.
This quilt pattern was created for the Quilt Dash, a fun way to visit online quilt shops. It starts Monday, December 15, 2014 and runs through December 28. This fun Christmas quilt pattern is available for purchase through Craftsy and Phyllis’ Etsy WhimsyColor store.
This pieced patchwork quilt, sized 46 ¾” x 58″, with 12 blocks. It’s easy to adjust if you want to make it larger or smaller. I designed it to be a scrappy quilt so that you can use a multitude of fabrics or the scraps you have on hand. The fabrics shown in this pattern are all from Quilting Treasures.
I hope you join the Quilt Dash and use this pattern to make your Christmas stockings by creating a heirloom quilt.
Merry Christmas and happy quilting!
It’s the time of year for little ghosts and goblins to ring our doorbell. I love to see all the cute little costumes, especially on toddlers. It’s also fun to decorate for Halloween and with that in mind, I designed this Halloween “Spooky Ghosts” quilt that is easy to make and is a good size for a wall hanging.
This quilt pattern was designed for the Quilt Dash during the dash October 15 through 31, 2014. Its now available through the WhimsyColor online shop. Its also easy to dash through online quilt shops to obtain the pattern pieces and you will also find some great fabric and notions. If you have an online shop, there is still time to sign up to get lots of visitors to your stores.
This quilt is 41″ x 47″ and combines patchwork with appliqué. There are 8 ghost blocks and 1 pumpkin block. A little embroidery is used to accent for the ghosts mouths and for the pumpkin lines. Buttons add additional accents. Tonal fabrics were used but you can easily substitute cute Halloween prints.
I hope you have a Happy Halloween and enjoy the little ghosts running through your neighborhood!

The “Purr-fect Balance” fabrics are from Quilting Treasures and will be great for sewing or quilting a gift for both someone who loves cats or yoga or both.
Happy Quilting and Meow to you!
I always get excited with a new fabric collection and am extremely so with my next collection Purr-fect Balance. Created in bold colors, Purr-fect Balance has 16 cats in yoga poses along with some snarky names of yoga poses created in kitty lingo.
I designed this collection for Quilting Treasures. Since it’s still in printing, Quilting Treasures is taking pre-orders from quilt and fabric stores for shipping in November 2014. If you have a favorite fabric store, you can check with them on ordering this collection.
A couple of months ago, I received small sample pieces of each fabric to review for approval. Not to let any scrap go to waste, I designed and created a small quilt to show at Quilt Market. I don’t have a pattern available for this one, but will work up one soon. In addition, I will let you know about free quilt and sewing patterns to go with these fabrics.
My kitty was the inspiration behind these fabrics although his poses were mostly curling up in sleep. But he did have some great sleep poses and funny positions. RIP Kitty Kat.
I hope that you will add some furry love to your quilting and sewing!
