Such a Special Adaptation for a Patriotic Quilt

I love it when someone who uses a pattern I designed sends me a photo of how they interpreted the pattern. I especially love this adaptation of my Windmill quilt pattern by Mindy Andrey to create a really special gift.

Adaptation of quilt pattern for a patriotic quilt

Mindy created this red, white and blue patriotic quilt that has a Police Department emblem at the center of the quilt. She added red and white stripe fabric and blue fabric with white stars to create 4 flags. She made this quilt for her future son-in-law as he begins his journey to serve and protect. What a beautiful quilt that will be come an heirloom! I know Mindy’s future son-in-law will cherish and treasure it!

This is the Windmill quilt pattern that Mindy used that is available from my Etsy Whimsycolor shop. If any of you use this or another pattern of mine, I would love to see what you make.

Cuddle in this Stars and Stripes Waving Flag  quilt to celebrate your patriotism. This quilt pattern in red, white and blue fabrics is easy to sew to give you a quilt to display all year, for patriotic holidays, or give as a gift to a veteran or someone in the military.

This quilt is a good size for a lap quilt, wall hanging, or for cuddling. The size of 56″ W x 44″ H  can easily be adjusted for a larger or smaller quilt. The chevron zig zag stripes in an assortment of red and white fabrics give this quilt a fresh modern look. Using both piecing and appliqué methods to construct, this quilt pattern has a wide blue band on one side with appliqué white stars. The pattern has full step-by-step instructions, charts, color diagrams and a full size star pattern.

Patriotism – Red, White & Blue Stars and StripesQuilt

A patriotic quilt is a wonderful way to show your love of our country. I designed this “Patriotism – Red, White & Blue” quilt so that you can sew it for every day use of for our patriotic holidays of July 4, Memorial Day and Veterans Day. This patriotic quilt pattern is available through the WhimsyColor Shop.

“Patriotism – Red, White & Blue, Stars and Stripes” quilt  is 59 1/2″ wide x 69 1/2″ high. The blocks can be adjusted to make the quilt larger or smaller or to use for table runners and placemats.  I used different red fabrics for the stripes to make it look a little scrappy.  You can make it more scrappy by using different blue fabrics for the star block backgrounds.  Its always fun to see how quilters can take a pattern and make it their own with their  fabric choices, making each quilt look so different from the other.  That’s just the nature of quilting though and what makes it such a great artisan craft!!

Sew a quilt of red, white and blue as a gift to a veteran to say thanks or for a special occasion.
